Simon Johnston is a Chartered Physiotherapist who is also trained in the Bowen Technique. He will be providing both these therapies at the Cresswell Street clinic. Simon currently works within the NHS in the west of Glasgow on a rotation basis. He has a particular interest in alternative therapies.

Chartered Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy uses various techniques in order to promote muscles and joints to function at their optimal level. It utilises exercise, manual therapy, trigger point release and even simple advice. Physiotherapy relies on a thorough assessment in order to gain an educated opinion on what the injury is and why it has occurred and then uses a problem solving approach to resolve it. It also aims to empower the patient to self manage through advise and exercise.

Bowen Therapy

In relative terms, Bowen Therapy is a fairly new technique using sequential, gentle touch to stimulate the body's intrinsic ability to heal itself, often with outstanding results. It is a holistic therapy that can help a very broad range of problems from muscle strains to asthma. The therapist will perform gentle skin rolling movements over the under lying tissue which will facilitate a process of communication between the brain and the body. In turn, triggering the bodies healing process. This process continues for 5-7 days post treatment, so a period of a week should be left between treatments.
