Maika has been practicing reflexology and Indian head massage for 6 years.

She approaches her practice in a holistic way, and helps to relieve any stress symptoms present in the body which are the cause of many illnesses these days.

Reflexology
A reflexology treatment begins with the practitioner conducting a brief health history. The patient will lie or sit down, remaining fully clothed except for their shoes and socks.

Regardless of the patient’s health condition(s), she focuses on the entire pattern of the reflexology treatment. The therapist uses a smooth systematic massage technique to stimulate the nerve endings in the feet. This rhythmical touch encourages relaxation which allows the body’s own self healing powers to come into action. Whenever there is a specific condition, she will work all areas of the foot with gentle pressure. According to reflexology theories, this allows the nerve pathways and congestion to release and promotes the relaxation response for the entire body.

Indian Head Massage
This therapy includes massage of the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, face and ears. It has been practised for centuries and is now recognised as a relaxing and highly beneficial therapy, working on both the physical and mental state.

On the first visit brief details will be taken from the patient before the treatment begins. The treatment starts with relaxing massage to your neck and back, which is followed by upper arms, face and head. The treatment takes place on a chair which provides a comfortable resting place.

The treatment can be carried out with the patient fully clothed (preferably wearing loose, light clothing, T-shirt etc.) or the patient may remove their shirt and wrap themselves in a comfortable towel to allow oil to be used on their back, shoulders and upper arms. Indian Head massage will be relaxing while stimulating the body's own healing mechanisms.

The duration of the treatments is 1 hour each. It is advisable not to eat a heavy meal or drink any alcohol before the treatment. The therapist will explain different ways in which the body can respond to the treatments. Some recommendations will be given after the sessions in order to ensure the maximum benefit.
