Having experienced the benefits of massage over many years, in particular following a period of chronic lower back pain, she is committed to helping people promote their own wellbeing and good health through this long-standing therapy.

Emma's aim as a therapist is to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere and to treat each client as an individual and find out what their needs are for each session. Emma specialises in therapeutic and relaxation massage. She believes that in our society today, massage is very beneficial in minimising stress levels and balancing our emotional state. Ideally, massage will help to prevent the build up of tension/stress in the first place, however, most of us tend to seek help when we are feeling stressed or are in pain and part of what massage can do is to allow you to take some time out to relax and let someone else take the strain off your body for an hour or so.

Therapeutic/Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is the classic Western style of massage and forms the basis for many other types of massage, e.g., sports massage and deep tissue massage. Swedish massage is very relaxing and will improve circulation and stimulate the skin and nervous system. This massage is recommended for people of all ages to relieve stress, muscular aches and to revive spirits! For conditions such as stress, shock and insomnia a more relaxing massage is available with slower movements and a guided visualisation that help to calm and balance the emotions.

Pregnancy Massage
This massage will both relax the pregnant client whilst focusing on some key areas (e.g., hips) that cause particular problems for women when pregnant – an individual consultation will establish how you are feeling and how the massage will be

Indian Head Massage
This is a wonderfully relaxing therapy that includes massage of the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, face, ears and energy balancing.

Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

First Visit
Your massage is given in a calming, relaxed atmosphere. You’ll be covered with towels throughout the treatment, with only the area being massaged uncovered at any one time. To ensure the full benefits of the massage, it’s best that you don’t eat a heavy meal or drink any alcohol before your treatment. As part of the treatment, a confidential case history of your past and present health is taken to make sure there are no contra indications to your receiving this massage. You are advised to try and drink extra fluids following massage as this helps to eliminate toxins from the body.
