Detox Clinic - Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a slow, light, effective massage treatment carried out without oil. The specific movements and techniques of Vodder MLD help the body to drain excess fluid and remove toxins more effectively, with a gentle pumping action in the direction of the lymph. Our lymphatic system lies close to the surface of our skin, carrying lymph around the whole body. Flow of lymph depends on good circulation; from muscular movement, correct breathing, arterial pulsation, peristaltic action and also benefits from M.L.D. Lymph nodes act as filters at collection points in the body for bacteria and viruses, forming lymphocytes to fight them off. When there is infection present we can sometimes feel a swelling of the area, often in the neck where we have approximately 160 lymph nodes. With M.L.D. the immune system can improve, allowing us to fight off infections more easily or build up resistance to allergies such as hayfever. Used within the Detox Clinic it will be used to help you with your treatment package or as a single therapy. A course of M.L.D. would be suggested to gain better health benefits and this can be discussed at your first appointment. Areas treated include the neck, face, chest, arms, back, abdomen, buttocks and legs. Appointments usually last for 1 hour, with the areas worked on decided by the therapist to suit the individual.
